Thank You For Choosing Sonic

Hallelujah, today was my last day at Sonic! Naturally, that means that I had eleven-hundred annoying customers, because nature works that way.

The first was a girl I went to high school with. Let’s call her Slaw, because let me tell you, the mustard, onions, and coleslaw that she didn’t ask for on her Extra Long Cheese Coney had her getting all kinds of attitude with me, that’s how badly she wanted it.

“I ordered this with everything on it.”

Politely, I said, “Well they just come with chili and cheese. You have to ask for extra add-on’s,” to which she said, “I did.”

Oh no you dihn’t, but that’s fine, “let me go and fix that for ya.”

I fixed up that Extra Long and had it back to her in minutes.

“Can I have another straw? This one isn’t long enough. Oh, and mustard. And some extra napkins.”

I quickly filled her every demand, and you know what? No tip.

The second was a middle-aged woman with four Route 44 drinks.

I loaded them onto my tray and greeted her at her car when she barked, “Don’t you have a drink carrier?”

I looked over her receipt and then said, “Oh sorry, it wasn’t on your ticket but I can grab one for you.”

"You do that.”

Hold.The.Phone.

Listen, lady. It wasn’t on your receipt. I’m no mind reader. How was I to know?!

Anyway, I got it for her: No tip.

Another was a lady who ordered a hamburger and a cheeseburger.

She ended up receiving two cheeseburgers, our fault, and she wasn’t happy about it.

I’m sorry, who eats a burger without cheese?

I apologized profusely and promised to have her hamburger to her shortly, and as I walked away, I heard her snarky, “I ordered it correctly.”

That was the cherry on top of the several other demanding/complaining/annoying customers at Sonic Drive-In.

Did I mention how happy I am that my carhop days are (partially) dunzo?

I amsig and on the plus side, Kris Allen came to our Sonic today! Perks of living where he lives.

  4. Oh whoah, I didn't realize you were still working there! But amen to it being your last day! I can perfectly relate to those days, as if working in fast food doesn't suck enough then you have those people who complain about THE most mundane and trivial things. Craziness! Anyhoo, congrats on the freedom!
