Um, hello there last week in America!
That’s right, I leave for Greece in 1 WEEK. I honestly can’t believe it. I don’t really even like to think about it because I have literally 1,764 things to do between now and then. For starters, what in the world do I pack?!
Packing for this trip is a greater stress to my life than watching my precious Razorbacks play against LSU. Or that dumb crimson tide.
To take a break from deciding which cardigan to pack—the pink or the yellow, or both?—I went out for dinner and ice cream with one of my dearest friends, Katie.
I got the Greek pizza (HOLLA!) to you know, get a lil’ cultured before I’m thrust into it. Feta cheese is a definite score, so I’m sold.
EXCEPT WHAT DO I PACK?!
1 week…sheesh.
I amand I’m leaning towards the pink cardigan. Or the yellow…oh, but I also have a green one…
I can't believe you're leaving in just a week! Must be SO exciting (and a little nervewraking). I have no idea how I'd fit my life in a 50 pound suitcase...is that even possible? Don't forgot your toothbrush and toothpaste, I seem to forget those often, ha.
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting!! Can't wait to read about all your new Greek adventures!
ReplyDeleteI am SO excited for you!!!! I can't wait to read about all of your adventures in Europe. As for what to pack, I'm the kind of girl that packs a 50lb. suitcase for a 3 day trip....so my advice will only stink. Lol, I will say bring both cardigans because you can switch up your looks with accessories. Good luck lady!!!
ReplyDeleteso exciting! i cannot imagine the adventures you are going to have. just try and pack a lots of pieces that can be mixed together for different outfits. there are also a lot of websites that offer good packing tips. my favorite is J's Everyday Fashion. good luck!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't do a pound limit on what to pack. But my opinion is yellow! :) Good luck with the to-do list!!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across your blog from another and want to wish ya the best of luck in greece! I studied abroad almost 4 years ago and it was amazing! I would check the airline you are flying because I called mine up for Spain (Iberia Airlines) and was told I could have two 50lbs bags and one carry on plus a personal item. Some tips I'll share:
ReplyDelete-pack light on your toiletries unless it's something you can't live with out. i bought one bottle of shanmpoo & conditioner and then bought the rest while i was in spain.
-roll things up in shoes. i put underwear in shoes and it gave me more space.
-think souvenirs too! you're going to want to bring some home so if there's a way to get rid of weight at the end of the semester (like leaving all the toiletries in greece, do it).
-buy a cheap hair dryer there. not worth it to bring yours and blow a fuse. i saw that happen four times in spain with ONE roommate.
-get a converter for your laptop! :)
-if you have people coming to visit you, ask them to bring you more items and do a swap with them when they come. I sent my wintery things home with my mom and she brought me more summery things.
again, best of luck! feel free to stop by and ask for more tips if needbe!

I say, take all the cardigans! You know, just to be safe. Also, have a fabulous last week in the US and many, many adventures once you arrive in Greece!
ReplyDeleteso exciting!! i studied abroad for a month there August-September 2011 and miss it dearly. tad bit jealous you're going. but mostly SO happy for you.
ReplyDelete- make sure your bag for plane is stocked with snacks and entertainment! having just one bag that you can stow under your seat and not constantly get up and grab from the above thingy is so helpful
- pack a empty water bottle! super important, especially once it gets warmer there!
- also, pack a portable alarm clock of some sort. or a watch! always good to know the time, and the alarm clock is great to have when you need to get up early for class/excursions
- if you're going to an island for an extra trip make sure to buy the tickets AT LEAST 3 days prior. otherwise you have to go find an office in Athens and pay completely in cash. SO much easier done online
- insider tip: go see a play at the Odeon theatre off of the Acropolis. they don't advertise these to tourists. I went and saw Medea all in Greek. with the Acropolis behind me. in an ancient Greek theatre. ahh! for 20-something euro per a person. one of the best experiences ever. I think there's a website for it if you google it :)
- they sell little to-go packets of laundry soap too! super helpful :) Greek laundry machines are crazy, fyi. or at least the one in our apartment was- there are a million dials and buttons and a long tube that drains the water into the sink or toilet that you have to secure, ahaha.
SO EXCITED FOR YOU!
Greece is fantastic, and beautiful, and I so miss it.
Good luck in Greece! I'm so jealous! Pack lots of shoes..your feet will get blisters for sure!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog..gotta give love to my fellow Utah bloggers!
Loves!
