on being Intentional

me

I didn’t assign a “word” for what I wanted to strive towards in 2012. In hindsight, I would choose Adventure. It was the most adventurous I’ve ever felt

For 2013, I have been whispered a word that I believe is perfect for me in this stage of my life: Intentional.

I have made a decision---or rather, God has made a decision---about my post-undergraduate plans. It is terrifying, yet it has been something I have seen Him pricking my heart with for years. Looking back, I see how He has prepared me for this. It will be the biggest leap of faith I’ve ever taken. I will probably face a lot of resistance from family. But I am hopeful in His plan.

That being said, I need to be very Intentional in the way that I pray. I want to be Intentional in my relationships with families, friends, believers, and the least of these. I want this to be a year when I am Intentional with my money (freely I have received, so I will freely give), my time, and my emotions.

I also want to be Intentional in the essays that I write for you. I have struggled much with the content of this blog. I enjoy being a lifestyle blogger with my occasional fashion posts, recipes, photographs, etc, but I started a blog because I love to write, and I want to write for you good pieces that reflect my beliefs (religion, politics, body image) and character.

If you would like to pray for me because gee I could use it, I would love and appreciate you.

If you have something you would like me to write about, you can let me know in the comments.

If you would like to be Intentional too, then hands in! Because we’re all in this together.

Woo, I sure am glad to be a part of this community.

  2. Intention must be the word of the year for bloggers. This is the second post I've seen this morning on being intentional. But you are so very right about the importance of being wise and purposeful with our time, money, emotions, etc. I actually just blogged something very similar to this yesterday...my words for 2013 are both intentional and adventure. I can never make decisions. =) Oh and I'd love to see a post on all the things you wish you knew before running a 1/2 marathon...the before, during, and after. I am going to run my first one at the beginning of May!!

  4. oh! i am also hooked on the concept of intentionality, esp in my relationships. i now try to talk about stuff that matters and ask deep, thoughtful questions. it has truly changed the way i see people. in fact, i am writing about it for my first column of the semester.

so. thank you for this post. i pray that you cling to god in a very intentional way:)
