The prompt for today, Day 6 of Blog Every Day in May, is “If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question ‘what do you do?'” If we’re being honest, I do a whole lot of nothin’ a lot of the time, and my schedule varies by my many moods and loaded school schedule. I don’t think this question means my day-to-day, though.
Not to me, anyway. What do I do?
What do I care about?
What makes me tick?
I love relationships. I love a warm mug of coffee and good conversations.
I love to spread a blanket out in the shade of the sun and read C.S. Lewis, like I did this afternoon.
I thrive off a good run. Something about that pounding heart and beading sweat helps me process thoughts and feelings.
I work every afternoon at a pre-school and it is a job that gives me immeasurable joy.
A long drive with the windows down and a “live” Coldplay album blaring brings me the most content.
Mostly, I maintain a relationship with the Creator.
And all of that keeps a girl pretty busy.
i think that's a really good question. and framed so perfectly, too. "if you can't answer with your job." it's actually something i've been thinking (and journaling) a lot about lately. i'm trying to remember & appreciate the humble bits of life -- the small, sensory things -- and to realize that they are WHO i am, too. sometimes we get so caught up in other things.
ReplyDeleteoh, and by the way, i love an evening spent poring over c.s. lewis' words. he's such an inspiration to me, and his books are some of my happiest, most peaceful spots to find myself getting lost. and, uhm, especially the screwtape letters! i thought the way he wrote the devil was so funny, and deprecating, and at times, tragic. really well done. also mere christianity is another favorite. : )
