The Hills Are Alive (Salzburg & Vienna)

_MG_8200

I’m not sure what my expectations were of Austria, but I left feeling worn out, disappointed, and well, wet.

I’m sure our experience was circumstantial. We got stalked by sketchy men (where did we not get followed?), it was a Sunday—-in Europe, which translates to everything being closed—-and it was pouring rain.

We weren’t able to figure out the train system, we couldn’t find any of the locations for The Sound of Music, and even in Vienna, there was nothing to see. It seemed.

It wasn’t all bad, though. In a taverna, we had a delicious traditional meal of schnitzel and apple strudel, both cuisines Austria is known for.

And in the end, if I could repeat this day, I would in a heartbeat, because any day spent in Europe is a good day.
