In April it will be one year since I left Greece and began my backpacking trek around Europe, and I have only written about half of the countries I visited! In honor of it being a year, and for posterity’s sake, I am cranking out the rest of the countries this week. Here it goes.

At 6 AM we got the heck out of Amsterdam. Sure, the architecture was beautiful and it was neat that everyone rides bicycles instead of driving cars, but uh, we hated it. Sometimes the girls and I will text each other and say, “remember that awful city. ugh.”
Moving on.
We took a bus to the train station, got cheap cappuccino's out of the vending machines, and boarded the train for Belgium! When we arrived in Bruges it was a beautiful, sunshiny day. We walked down the brick streets from the train station to the city square where we picked up Belgian waffles (with nutella!), Godiva chocolate covered strawberries (of course), and french fries because it seemed like the right thing to do.
After we’d eaten everything in the city, we moseyed in and out of shops for the afternoon.
It was such a good day!
Next stop: ‘ole Pari!
I'm amazed by how many places you backpacked to! And I know what you mean when you say you want to crack the rest of these out! I've been trying to document my travels and it's quite the task. How did you even finish posting about Greece? I practically haven't even begun to document my semester in Israel and it's been months...
ReplyDeleteAnn, I haven't even touched half of my Greece experiences. It just seems like such a big task to write about because there is SO much, and so I naturally procrastinate until a year later...good luck! I can't wait to read about your experience in Israel. I only had two weeks there and it changed my life. Can't imagine how it changed yours.
DeleteThis looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteahhh, this makes me want to just run out and explore Europe even more. Switzerland is making me have itchy feet to see neighboring countries too and Belgium is one of the ones at the top of my list!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I had never heard of Bruges until recently when a friend visited ... And I'm in love! I'm curious why you didn't like Amsterdam, but I'll check your other posts in case you wrote on it.
