I am fascinated with pregnancy. I always have been. I am obsessed with reading birth stories via over-sharing bloggers and I have read What to Expect When You’re Expecting for fun. Babies are my thang.

When my best friend Morgan told me that she was pregnant, I almost immediately began having pregnancy dreams like never before. One night, I had a dream that I was pregnant, as an ultrasound had confirmed. My stomach started to expand and I even felt the baby kick. But I would always convince myself that there wasn’t actually anything there. I just knew that labor would never come, a baby would never come, and I would be stuck in this phantom pregnancy forever.

In countless other dreams, I have been decorating nurseries, picking out onesies, and stressing about labor.

Last night, our group of friends got together for a long overdue dinner. Morgan told us all the gory details of pregnancy: swollen fingers, feet, and how she is unable to breathe when she lays down. She can’t sleep, she got up to pee about 30 times, and the stretch marks have started.

And then I decided, I can so wait.
