who needs alcohol?

21 went a little like this: early morning, skipping chapel, small-town diner, french toast & bacon, presents, laughter, a night class, chocolate chip cookies and red velvet cake, hours at the domestic violence shelter, talks of HUG, pledge week fun, and a lot of love.

Go Shawty, It’s Your Birthday!

stashgrace

September: Birthday Motherlode!

Today I attended a birthday party in honor of a few great friends of mine—Grace, Claudia, and Joshua.

Theme: Black-tie Masquerade2528 Activities: a murder mystery game, pizza, movie trivia, sneaking views of the Arkansas/Alabama game (let’s not talk about it), Xbox, mint chocolate chip ice cream, and napping.

Can I tell you a funny story? In the murder mystery, I played a character who had recently been broken up with by another character, played by my recent ex-boyfriend. We had fun with that. Ha. Haha.

Of course I was the #1 suspect when he was murdered:34

Maybe I really am plotting his murder? But you didn’t hear that from me.

(Nahh, I have more class than that, don’tcha know.)

After we solved the mystery, we chowed on ice cream cake and then I conked out for about an hour. No lie. Who falls asleep at a party?

I think that qualifies me for the senior discount at IHOP, just sayin’.  DSCN2414

Any party that offers me entertainment, food and a nap, I give 5 stars:

Happy Birthday Grace!

Happy Birthday Claudia!

Happy Birthday Joshua!

I amaland let’s do this again next year, same time?

BirthDay? No, BirthWeek.

All I can say is, finally.

Her birthday week is finally over.

I can’t even tell you how many times this week it was “okay” to cheat on our diet because it was her birthday week.

Well it was twice, so I guess I can tell you, but I’m not proud of it.

Oh well, at least I got to wear a sombrero and eat Chocolate Reece’s Peanut Butter Cookie Cupcakes.

And really, how many times do you get to say that?

Happy Birthday Kaylee!

There, it’s over now.

Carrots for us all week.

I am Al and I made the cupcakes! So I guess I can only blame myself?

Life Is Sweet

One of my best friends turned 20 this week. It’s so exciting that we are all getting older. I love this stage of life we are in.

To celebrate her sweet life, we dined at Panera Bread. I had a delicious chipotle chicken sandwich and a bowl of creamy tomato soup.

bday

We branched off from the normal birthday cupcake or cake and had  fluffy glazed donuts instead. Each donut had a different design and they were so cute! I loved the little snowmen ones. (Even though the black icing turned Morgan’s mouth black!)

Life is so sweet and I am extremely blessed.

Happy Birthday my sweet friend!

Which Came First, The Chicken or The Egg?

Favorite birthday card:

The front reads,

"And lo, the Lord gazed upon the chicken and upon the egg..."

The inside reads,

"And not knowing which should come first, shoveth'd He the egg up into the chicken, and it was good."
-3rd Nephi 3:11

Have a wonderful birthday!

-Ali

*Ali didn't mean the Nephi verse offensively. But come on, old English sounds like that.*

October Memories

October has always been my favorite month.
This year it has been extra special. I have made some amazing memories.

A few weeks ago the girls and I went to a pumpkin patch and corn maze. It was my first experience with a corn maze and it will not be my last!

The night was kind of magical. Crisp air and warm apple cider.

Another fun part of October?
Rush (dubbed 'pledge week' at HU).

It was so much fun to be on the other side of things this year. I grew so much closer to my Iota Chi sisters and made a lot of new ones!

The girls in pink are my 'little sisters'. They were precious.

And then of course, my birthday celebration which always starts days before Halloween!
Last night some friends and I ate at ZaZa, smoked some mango hookah and went to see Saw 3D.

My 20th birthday is tomorrow!

My mask on rough night. I scared some Iota Chi pledges!

Happy Halloween!

4 years ago today...

Today is my little brother's birthday.
Noah Benjamin,
born October 17th 2006.

When mom asked him about his birthday cake, he wanted "America" and "super heroes!"

I think his wish was fulfilled, don't you?

We had his party at a park in town. It was a perfect fall day with lots of family, cake and ice cream.

Presents included a kitten and a Spider Man bicycle, among other things.
He was so excited!

Isn't my little niece so precious when she picks her nose?

Yeah, pretty sure she ate that booger after.
You gotta love kids.

Happy Birthday Noah!

A Birthday Celebration

On this day, September 8th 1991, my roommate Ali was born.
I'm happy she was born- she's good at Chemistry and helps me, and I stock the fridge with Diet Dr. Pepper. It's a give and take relationship, you see.

Where was I? Yes, I am happy she was born.

We celebrated her birthday with dinner at Chili's and then ate delicious chocolate cupcakes with sprinkles.

And then we played 'pin the tail on the donkey', because sophomore in college or not, you are never too old to play birthday games.

Happy Birthday rooms!

p.s. Enjoy that Chik-Fil-A chicken biscuit, a la Harding University.

Smells of Summer (& a birthday)

Happy Birthday Kaylee!
We have been best friends since the 2nd grade & I cherish each day. I hope I'm telling you 'happy birthday' when we are 80.

In other news, it was 1,7892828282 degrees today which is not desirable carhop weather. To my delight, a monsoon came upon us and made the temperature drop 10 degrees. And lets not forget the smell rain brings with it. I had no problem taking orders out after that. The more the merrier- that became my motto!

Oh summer, please bring more days like this!
