Monday: Shoes, the Bahamas, & Birth

1. #runningproblems

The greatest thing about being near Memphis is the Nike Outlet store. I have been on a norts (Nike shorts) kick all summer. Today, I bought new running shoes—yellow polka dot ones, at that. The best part? 60% off.

2. healthy living

For dinner, I made a power smoothie.

1 frozen banana
1/2 cup cooked oatmeal
2 tbsp. peanut butter
1 cup skim milk

Blend.

3. so this is love

I’ve been editing engagement photos for hours. I love, love, love how they are turning out!

4. cruisin’ the bahamas

My family leaves for a cruise to the Bahamas in 27 days! To say I’m excited is a bit of an understatement. Today I started looking into excursions. I’m thinking the kayak/snorkel excursion is something I have to do!

5. The Business of Being Born

I am currently watching the documentary “The Business of Being Born.” It’s controversial, as it talks about how modern medicine/hospitals have seemingly convinced women that our bodies are not able to labor and birth babies on our own. We have to have that pitocin, epidural, get the women in and out. What happened to midwives and natural deliveries? I’m nowhere near having a child yet, but when I do, I’ll trust my body to do what God created it to do.

TGIM.

21

{1} Brette and I like to check our blood pressure when we go to Walmart. We also eat dinner at 5 PM and watch a lot of TLC. Pretty much, we’re old women.

4

{2} My good friend Sarah got engaged this weekend and I am SO thrilled for them! She asked me to take their Save the Date photos. I’m nervous and excited! And I’m not usually the girl that freaks out about the ring, but isn’t hers beautiful?!

3

{3) I WANT THESE PANTS! And see, I think I’m meant to get them. I was lusting after them on the Maurice’s website, and the very.next.day a girl in one of my classes had them on. I’m taking that as a sign.

Could Be Paradise. Or Just Monday.

coldplay

a. If you know me at all, you know that I LOVE COLDPLAY. Looooove like whoa. Today their new single Paradise was birthed and I cannot stop listening. Oh-em-gee.

b. I’m writing my first paper of the semester and it’s about “The Importance of the Fun Factor in Play Therapy.” I love my major!

c. It was college night at Zaxby’s tonight. Which translates to dinner for $3.69. $3.69! If that isn’t winning I don’t know what is.

d. I applied to counsel at a camp retreat in October and I would love the opportunity! Keep your fingers (toes and shoes strings) crossed that I get it!

e. Oh hey, I ran 9 miles yesterday. My body hates me today, but 9 MILES! I never thought I’d see the day. 69% trained for a half-marathon, which is in 47 days. Eek!

And with that, al out.

Miscellanies Include: Pictures, Jesus, & a Homemade Music Video.

1. I’m more than obsessed with the iPhone Instagram app. 20192221 17161514

2. When I take time out of my day to explore God’s word, He reveals himself to me in beautiful ways. Today I read this verse:

“How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.”Psalm 84:1-2

3. 101 FOLLOWERS?! Shut the front door. I am super flattered/excited, see? For realz, thank you thank you thank you. Thank you.

18

4. I can’t dance. Never have been able to, never will be able to. But oh boy, that didn’t stop me from making a music video 5 years ago with my best friend. Look, I can’t even believe I’m sharing this, but it makes me laugh so hard that I cry and it will probably make you do the same. Disclaimer: This video contains awful make-up and me (attempting) to take my clothes off. Hey, it was hot in hur. Also, I was 15.

Alright, I’ll shut up and roll the film:

Notice: We don’t know all the words, Katie has grillz, and somehow she ends up with the hat.

I amsig and if you unfollow me now, I won’t hold it against you.

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

On this third Monday in December, I did not get a lot accomplished. It is winter break, after all. Although that excuse is already old to my mother who heard it 20+ times today.

{Numero Uno} I am constantly looking for new delicious recipes to try out. Especially when I’m home, because I actually have a kitchen. Today I found a recipe for hot chocolate cupcakes. Try and contain yourself. Tomorrow night I will be making these to hand out to family & friends!

{Numero Dos} The last few weeks of school were crazy
ones, stuffed with projects, papers and preparations for finals.
Needless to say, there wasn’t a lot of time to tend to my pretty side.
Tonight I plucked my eyebrows & painted my toenails a hot pink.
Just my service to society.

{Numero Tres} I just read this book:

somethingblue

It is simply hilarious. Have you read it? If not, it’s a great book to curl up with and read while you’re off work/out of school. You will thank me, I think.

{Numero Cuatro} I have been looking for dresses
for my club (sorority) spring formal and I will never be able to
decide between these because they are all to die for!
Which one do you like most?

{Numero Cinco} My heart loves this verse!

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:4-7

Have a great week!

Blood & Engagements Sum Up This Post

1.Today I did my part for society and gave away some delicious O blood. Isn't it a weird sensation when that tube is against your skin and it's warm because of your blood? It actually kind of weirds me out. Oh well. I saved 3 lives and got a free tshirt and snack. Not too shabby for a Monday.

My arm looks really big in this picture. I blame the weird angle.

2. Thanksgiving break is 4 short days away and I cannot wait! I am so ready to be around family and eat real food (as opposed to caf food). I am going to gain five pounds I'm sure. But I will lose it once we're back at school- don't you worry.
3. It seems like every semester I get stuck with suitemates I don't like. This semester, they are on the un-hygenic side. As in, kind of disgusting. I'm aware that we all have our "monthly issues." I'm a girl, I can deal. However, I do not want to see it on the toilet seat. Ever. Again. Do I make myself clear? EVER AGAIN! (Sorry if this was TMI for you. It's life for me.)

4. A girl in my social club/sorority got engaged and I can't help but share this picture. They are studying abroad in New Zealand this semester which is where he popped the question. It's okay to be jealous. I know I am.

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

One day when I am not wearing sweats to class,
I will take inspiration from Kendi and mix up my closet
and look super cute every day. Or one day when I have
enough money to shop at J Crew.
Whichever happens first.

According to my half-marathontraining schedule,
I should be ready to run a 10k in a week. Gulp. I am
beginning to realize how much of a mind game running is.
If you know you can do it, if you are absolutely confident in the fact
that you can run 6 miles, you will. If you are hesitant
and scared, it will be impossible.
I know I can, I know I can...

I am so restless. I want to drop
everything and do something spontaneous.
Travel, sky-dive, something...anything!
Alas, school comes first. Gag.

Say hello to the worlds newest telemarketer.
Well maybe not the worlds, but I did get a job that pays me to
call Harding alumni and beg for money. $7.25 an hour.
Like I said, I really can't afford J Crew.

Misc. Monday

1. Mark 16:15

Every year during spring break, Harding gives students the opportunity to serve Jesus by planning week-long mission trips. The locations range from Alaska to Nicaragua and activities include working in homeless shelters, starting food banks, and going door-to-door to tell people about Jesus. It's not a question of if I should go- Jesus calls us to serve in Mark 16:15 when "He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." It's a question and prayer of where I should go. I am leaning towards Vancouver, Canada where we would be volunteering at a homeless shelter/food drive and door-to-door evangelizing.

Plus, isn't it gorgeous?

2. Productivity

My day goes so much better when I have been productive. Today I have done laundry, washed dishes, completed homework and of course, went to class. I feel accomplised.

3. Football

I signed up to play flag football with my social club/sorority, Iota Chi. We have our first practice tonight and our first game tomorrow. I am a little nervous- some super competitive girls are probably going to get mad at me when I duck from the ball. I'm just trying to be a good club member by playing! Maybe no one will notice I'm terrible at football if I just run around. Right?

4. Addict

I don't need to get addicted to any more television shows. I feel like I already have so many that I love to watch. Alas, I added Pretty Little Liars to the list. Do you watch it?

Happy Monday folks!

Complaining on Monday Night

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

a. I am in a

rut. A deep, depressing funk. Half of it is probably sleep deprivation, but the other half is legitimate. I am tired of school and studying and all of the stress that comes with it. Today I thought about what my life consists of- the 3 Step Survival Guide For College, if you will.

Study, Shower, Sleep.

I have been in a running rut too.
I am so worn out.

b. If you're new around here,

you probably don't know my love for Utah & Mormons. My friend Jill sent me a link to this Etsy shop. This is the shirt:

This is the desciption of the shirt:
"Love Utah? I do and you can show your love for the beehives, honey and mormons of Utah when you wear this..."

I'm thinking it was made for me.

c. The weather here has been

amazing! It has been in the 70's during the day and 60's at night. I am loving every minute of it. Autumn is my favorite season. Nice work on naming me, Mom. Very fitting.

d. I have been taking

prenatal vitamins because I am really anemic. They are doing amazing things for my hair and nails! I have had several good hair days and my fingernails are growing pretty fast. That's very exciting for a girl who has always had short, stubby nails.

e. Thank goodness

Monday is over. It was unpleasant.

Miscellany Labor Day

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. Harding didn't let classes out for Labor Day. Isn't that crazy? That wasn't stopping me, though. I went to 2 of my classes and then skipped out for the rest of the day, opting for the lake instead. It was awesome.

2. My camera has a mind of its own. Some days she works, some days she doesn't. Today was one of those days when she said, "Who me? I'm supposed to do something today?" So I had to take the above pictures with my iPhone. Not the best quality, but it works!

3. My friend Brette has decided to run the half-marathon with me, so we started running together last week. We were running our usual route around campus Friday when a truck full of guys threw water balloons at us. I wasn't laughing then, but it's funny now!

4. Remember my embarrassing story about the boy and his beloved chicken? After that fateful day in the caf, I thought, surely no boy will think I'm cool now. False. I went on a little road trip with a guy friend this weekend and he said I'm a "total catch." Out of the blue. (Like I would ask.) So there it is. I'm a "total catch." Humble about it, too.

5. Tomorrow is the busiest day of my life. More on that...tomorrow. Or maybe Wednesday, since tomorrow is the busiest day of my life.

6. So long sweet summer

Mundane Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. Mustard Yellow

is my new favorite color. I have been dreaming of a cardigan to wear this fall in the very color. It goes with browns, greens, blues- the possibilities are endless. So when I saw this cardigan at Old Navy (my favorite store), I HAD to buy it. The blue dress was on sale, so I thought, why not? Pretty cute Monday ensemble if I do say so myself.

2. Western Civ

has got to be the most boring class I have taken thus far in my college career. Don't get me wrong, I like history. However, the 1300's holds none of my interest. In class today, I skipped 30 chapters ahead and read about World War 2. I am a total WW2 junkie.

3. Chapel

As if Harding doesn't have enough couples everywhere, I sit behind the most affectionate couple ever in chapel. If you want to hold and rub each other's legs, sit in the student center at 9 every morning instead of in front of me, please. And come on man, get your head off of your girlfriends shoulder. You look dumb. (And next time you kiss her shoulder in the middle of a song or prayer, I will kick you in the face.)(I actually won't.)

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Miscellany Monday at school

1. Bunk Beds

I have come to the conclusion that I am a really good roommate. The best, some say. This belief is founded on the fact that I compromised with my height-fearing roommate Ali and took the top bunk. We didn't have to bunk, but it gave us a ton of floor space. See, I really am the best roommate. You would want to live with me, right?

2. Gym

I decided I am healthy enough to go back to the gym. I ran 3 miles on the treadmill and did 2 miles on the bike and some work on the elliptical. I am trying to get into a gym schedule, so this week I am going to see how MWF at 2:00 works for me.

3. Mormon Tabernacle Choir

I am loving Come Thou Fount by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It is so pretty and peaceful.

4. Naps

I am tired. School, gym and my social life are wearing me out. I am trying to stop taking naps so I can sleep earlier at night. It is definitel going to be an adjustment!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. Fail.

I haven't been running in 2 weeks. I can't bring myself to get out in this heat. Let's be honest, I sweat like a man as it is. And running in the morning is not something that could possibly happen consistently. I need sleep. Otherwise I get migraines. So see, no running for 2 weeks. Tonight I will change that.

2. College.

I am beyond ready to go back to school. So ready, in fact, that I have a countdown app on my iPhone. 22 days! I am ready to see my friends, walk around campus, go to chapel, and have my freedom back! Love you mom and dad.

3. Work.

I am off work for the next 2 days. Hallelujah! Not that my job isn't fun (see post below), but I have major plans for these Sonic-free days. Like seeing Eclipse (again) with my momma today and going to a Arkansas Travelers game tomorrow with friends.

4. The Runaways

I rented The Runaways last night, mostly because I love Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. It was okay. A lot of drugs and girl-kissing, but they were a 70's all-girl rock band, so I guess that's to be expected?

5. Miscellany Monday.

This was my first time to link up for Carissa's Miscellany Monday. I certainly made interesting the mundane. Check out her blog to link up and to see some cute babies.
