Thankful Thursday

heart
Today I am oh so thankful for:

Roommates who pray with me
Discussing our day every night, our “family time”
Baking muffins together at 11 p.m.
My treadmill was open at the gym
Dinner with my dad (mexican, my favorite!)
A Bad Dream
One class today
No parking tickets
These suckers (fall is near!)
Sunshine

And in the midst of a few health problems concerning my mother, I have to say that I am thankful for a God who is the ultimate healer, who holds each of us in his hands, and who loves us so much.

Roommateship

aw

Living with someone is always a unique dynamic. It is even more interesting when you are living in a room that is a bedroom/kitchen/office/living room/bathroom.

My roommate and I are polar opposites. She likes upbeat dance music and I like Coldplay. She hates mexican food and I eat it (at least) once a week. She loves purple and I love yellow.

Aside from arguing over where to eat for dinner, we work very well. I don’t care if she uses my nail polish and she let’s me borrow her long sleeve t-shirts.

I am thankful for my sweet roommate.

We laugh a lot

She lets me drink her apple juice

She shares an interest in Facebook stalking

She helped me make the Pretty Little Liars chart

We both have awkward senses of humor

She’s always up for Chik-Fil-A

She encourages me

She is clean (I am most thankful for this, I think)

Plus, aren’t we cute?

Thanksgiving

Every Thursday I give thanks for all of the small blessings God has showered on me. Today (and everyday) I am so thankful for everything I have, big and small.

The opportunity to have an education,
and to be getting it at an amazing school
A roof over my head, whether it be my dorm room or my house
Food, whether it's a meal plan in the caf or a meal home-cooked
A healthy, happy family
To live in a free country and have all of the rights that I do
(especially the freedom to
worship God without having to fear for my life)
All of my (unnecessary) electronics like my iphone, laptop, tv, dvd's

I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving!
Give thanks for all you have.

Thankful: For Our Veteran's

In honor of Veteran's Day, this Project: Cultivate Thankfulness, which I have been taking part in, I want to express my gratitude to the men and women who have fought, are fighting, and who will fight for our beloved country.

This morning we had a very patriotic chapel. Military men giving talks, leading prayer and singing. The presentation of the colors, the pledge of allegiance. It was a big American love-fest.

Honestly, the whole time I wanted to break out into This Land is Your Land. Memoir from 4th grade music class, I think.

Thank you to all of our American soldiers! You have given me freedom and for that I am eternally grateful!

I am Thankful

I am always amazed at how quickly a week can change my whole perspective. It only takes seven days to drag my spirit down to a dark, stressed place.

That's why I like to focus on the blessings in life.
I love reminding myself of the little things in life to be thankful for.
Lunch with one of my best friends who drove up for a quick visit
The opporunity to serve on a
spring break mission trip. (I put a down-payment on Vancouver today!)
Mindy Gledhill's 'Hourglass'
A postcard from my parents in San Diego
Cranberry muffins for breakfast
Homemade vegetable soup
Iota Chi (my social club/sorority) won our football game!
Catching up with an old friend who was passing through town
The weekend starts tomorrow
Chowing on mexican food with my best friend
I only had three midterms out of six classes
Theological discussions with Kaylee

Thankful

I am officially out of my rut
I didn't stop one time during my run last night!
October is my favorite month, & it starts in T-minus 12 hours
Sonic's Southwest breakfast burrito
"The Best of Friends" DVD that keeps me laughing into the late hours of the night
The AMAZING fall weather. (75 and sunny alllll week)
Wednesday night bible study
My roommate who says hilarious things in her sleep
The color yellow
My mom sent me a card with $5 in it and told me to get
coffee "on her." I'm thinking a carmel apple javalanche?

I am also thankful for this thought:

"If the church can't see Jesus in each other, the world will never see Jesus."

Happy Thursday. Be thankful- God has blessed you!

Thankful on Thursday

It has definitely been one of those weeks when I need to sit back and think of the things I am thankful for. I have been so busy and stressed and tired, and I am constantly reminding myself that I have been blessed so much.

Today,
I am thankful for:

My Iota Chi sisters
Jarah's blog which inspired this post
Dove chocolates & their inspirational quotes
Extra-credit assignments
The warm, sunny weather
Diet Dr.Pepper
Chapel skips (sometimes you need to sleep in. Don't judge me.)
My friend Beth driving up from Texas to visit for the weekend
This song

I am also thankful for Hebrews 12:28-29 which has been in mind for a few weeks now.

"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our 'God is a consuming fire.'"

Thank goodness it's almost Friday!
